Beating the January Blues with Home Fragrance

Following the manic and very exhausting Christmas period, January can feel very dull, depressive and often difficult for many people. They call it the January Blues, and currently, I feel like I am suffering myself. At times like this, like many people, I often reach for the TV remote, to snuggle on the sofa, relax and recoup. One way that I relax within my home is by using fabulous Scented Candles and home fragrance.

I adore candles and home fragrance products, and I am relying on them for comfort, ambience and to inject a little happiness into my home. I burn candles all year round, choosing to have heavier, cosy scents for the winter and more fresh scents for spring and summer. Below I have highlighted some benefits to using candles and home fragrance, as well as some of my favourite products that I have been using over the last month.

Candles have many different benefits to your home and lifestyle. They can be great finishing touches to any room of the house. You can choose from soft subtle colours to add a feminine touch or go for bold bright colours to really make an impact. Candles are so versatile and look great in any room of the house. Put them in the bathroom for a spa-like feel, the living room to make it cosy and calm, the kitchen to set up for a romantic candlelit dinner, and you can even use candles in your garden to give it a magical, fairy-tale feel. My small jar Yankee Candle in Icy Blue Spruce is a fresh herbal fragrance that I burn in my bathroom, adding a touch of style with its small jar and blue wax, as well as adding a divine scent in the air. Perfect for relaxing and beating those January Blues!

Drama and ambience The most popular reason that candles are so loved is because of the atmosphere they can create in your home. The flickering of candlelight produces a lovely ambience that simply cannot be replicated, something that is also perfect for relaxing and maintaining a positive mind-set. If you are looking to create a cosy or intimate atmosphere, lighting a few well-placed candles in your home can really add to the effect. Adding a candle here and there will create softness in your room, which will instantly make it feel warm and welcoming.

I have been using the Yankee Candle Cranberry Ice Large Jar Candle in my living room over the last few weeks. The cool fruity fragrance adds a touch of comfort and freshness to the air, perfect for feeling clean yet comfortable.

Fragrance Another candle benefit is fragrance, now I personally only ever use scented candles and they are a wonderful way to subtly add a wonderful fragrance to your home. These days there are a huge number of scented candles available for purchase, wonderful mixes of essential oils work really well and can be used in any room of the house to give a wonderful, but not too overpowering scent that will immediately make you feel delighted to be home.

It’s not just candles that help add fragrance to your home. Yankee Candle has a range of Fragrance Pearls. I picked up the Lemon Lavender scent for my kitchen. These are easy to use, and you can place them where you want for constant fragrance that you don’t need to worry about. The jar contains simple soft beads that diffuse beautiful fragrance into the room, and is an easy alternative to candles.

You could also use products such as the Yankee Candle Melts. A melt is just some soft wax that you put in a burner on top of a candle. As the wax melts fragrance is lifted into the air, perfect if you have a small space or don’t have time to burn a large jar candle. I picked up several of these from Notino and love that they melt quickly, and that I can change the fragrance I use on a daily basis.

Candles are both stylish, relaxing and make a fantastic addition to any room of your home. They also make great gifts too!
