LFW Review: Day one events ft Irene SJ Yu, Evra Jewellery, Billie Jacobina and Michaela Frankova...

Day one came and went faster than a red Ferrari, and it was just as fabulous. I hit London around 2pm, checked into my hotel, changed into my black Hangisi Manolo Blahnik flats and ran off into the craziness known as London Fashion Week.

IRENE SJ YU The first event I attended was the Irene SJ Yu Presentation. Taiwanese Irene founded her namesake brand in 2015 and she's a new label on my radar, so I was super excited to attend. Following her graduation from Central Saint Martins, London, her agenda with her brand has been to contest traditional ideas of elegancy by creating an aesthetic of her own. She uses unexpected fabric combinations and prints while adding a sportlux vibe to her pieces. Her brand is very personal to her, as each collection is derived from daily outfits she puts together and wears herself, truly living for her aesthetic. In her short career, Irene SJ Yu has already been featured by Vogue Japan and Vogue Italy, Nylon Japan, Harpers Bazaar and seen on celebrities such as Brooke Candy and Jorja Smith.

When I arrived to the Presentation the room was already packed with press, editors, bloggers, and fans of her brand, leaving nothing but wiggle room to the collection. I was handed a glass of wine and shuffled my way to the front to inspect and gaze at each piece. For her Spring/Summer 2018 collection, Irene SJ Yu fused office wear with fun holiday pieces, pushing boundaries of clothing and also occasional wear. She showcased pieces from modern edgy street wear and mixed them with girly kitsch pieces adding a playful yet unusual but totally fun spin to her looks. The pieces would look at home partying in Ibiza but also teamed with statement jewellery and a blazer to be dressed in an edgy office wear look for streetstyle stars of London. My favourite pieces were the amazing bright colour feather shoes, ruffled tops with matching cut out trousers and ghetto oversized accessories.

Billie Jacobina The second event I attended was also a presentation. Presentations are usually more intimate than a runway show as you get to be close to the garments and inspect each piece, you also get to see them for longer, and sometimes the designers are on the floor walking around to speak to you regarding their inspirations and themes of the collection. I attended Billie Jacobinas Presentation at Freemasons Hall with Fashion Scout. I've been wanting to catch her for two seasons now, and having missed her back in February nothing would stop me from missing her this time, however although I was late, I made it! Billie is known for her use of pink and bright colour mixed with pattern and print. This season was no different, showcasing a collection that was inspired by a previous job working in a bakery. 'Billie's Bakery' featured stunning bright colours and fun bold designs. She used hand painting and digital printing to create pieces with her trademark pink colour, incorporating orange for SS18. The collection was electric, fun and flirty with pieces that would totally uplift any bad mood. We saw oversized jackets, bandeau tops and leggings, sparkly trousers and skirts, all styled with similar colour toned make up and accessories. A collection with colours that are beyond perfect for Spring and Summer!

Evra Jewellery and Interior Designer Anna Casa Showcase The next event had my Manolo clad feet running from Covent Garden to the fabulous Hari Hotel in Kensington. Here is where Evra Jewellery and Interior Designer Anna Casa had joined forces to put on a showcase, showcasing work from both brands. It was a beautifully relaxed affair, viewing the stunning pieces crafted by Tamara Zantout and talking to the lovely Sharon Connelly of Anna Casa Interiors, all while sipping glasses of Prosecco in beautiful surroundings.

During the event I got to get close and personal with items from the Evra Jewellery line, as well as viewing the new season pieces. Each piece was beautifully crafted using semi precious stones in statement making design. As I'm a total magpie I found I gravitated to the large cuffs and beautiful neck plates which were heavy on design but beautifully light in weight making them easy to wear.

The jewellery pieces by Evra were styled by Anna Casa interiors on beautiful tables surrounded by homewear pieces you can purchase from Anna Casa on their website, such as the clear boxes below. It was a stunning event where stylish homewear met statement Jewellery design. Below are a few of my favourite pieces from the collection which had everything from large colourful designs to more petite classics catering for every taste.

Michaela Frankova SS18 Show Following the event in Kensington I realised my fabulous Manolo Blahniks were not only beautiful, but they were dramatically painful as I limped through Holborn's tube station. Therefore I had a quick shoe change into some comfy Burton Menswear Dress shoes before the last show of the evening which was Michaela Frankova.

Michaela Frankova is a couture designer based in London who studied at the London College of Fashion. She also has over 8 years' experience working in the industry across the globe dressing celebrities and private clients. Frankova also owns a studio in London where she offers Bespoke evening wear dresses and a bridal service with multiple fittings and personal ball gowns designed specifically for a clients, or a Rental dress service of selected dresses for parties or events. You can also purchase ready to wear dresses in standard sizes in her online boutique. For her Spring/Summer 2018 collection, Michaela Frankova was inspired by classic old Hollywood glamour, which is a traditional inspiration for her brand. The collection was called "Golden Age" and contained influences from Hollywood Cinema from the 1920's through to the 1940's. She used her signature materials in lace and silk to creative stunning pieces that you could mix and max with other items in the collection or your existing wardrobe. This season she also featured prints by T-Mo Bauer which resulted in beautiful pieces that would be at home by a stylish pool in any exotic location. The stunning collection ranged from poolside separates to glamorous statement dresses fit for a red carpet, Frankova darling, the collection was fabulous!
