H&M Studio S/S 2016…

14-Mar-2016

I must admit that over the last year or so I had fallen out of love with H&M. I had been a huge fan of their constant turnout of fabulous fashion, designer collaborations plus my online account! But due to the disastrous shopping experiences I have encountered, first with trying to shop the Isabel Marant pour H&M collab, then the bitch that was Balmain, plus anything I seemed to order was either wrong, went missing in the post or just not to standard, I gave shopping with them a rest. I stopped checking the ‘New in’ sections, and my online account gradually got paid off in full, and no more charges were incurred… As a shopaholic, I know what level of service and standard of product I expect, and unfortunately H&M were falling short. Well, that was then.

“H&M Studio for spring/summer 2016 is an adventure in style. Our girl is always exploring, whether she’s on the city streets or on the trip of a lifetime. She mixes function with femininity, sportswear with pieces for a party, and whatever she wears she always looks effortless,” says Pernilla Wohlfarth, H&M’s head of design.

The theme of H&M Studio SS16 is journeys; as a way of life, from finding yourself in the city to travelling into the unknown. The mix of functionality (drawstring details, hoodies and leggings) and a bohemian femininity (prints, throw-on layers and floaty dresses) is essential in the collection.

I recently stumbled upon their Studio collection for Spring/Summer 2016 just as it was coming out in February. I usually always watch their Studio collection shows, but as H&M wasn’t really in my good books, I gave the last few amiss. I liked the write up of the collection, and a few of the pieces, and I was lucky enough to have some sent to me to try.

When they came, I must admit that my first word was “Oh…” They were nice, but nothing special, and quite frankly, they looked better on the models! However, I was wrong. As when it came to wearing them, I understood the whole ethos of the collection. My Friend Jade and I did a few quick snaps at my apartment and she helped me put looks together. We tried to stay with the true Studio SS16 theme of transitional pieces, mixing and matching clothing for a busy and adventurous life and I fell in love with the garments. They were perfect, I could mix and match them with anything, and my favourite was the Navy Drawstring set. I felt like  Carrie Bradshaw, all dressed up with my Alexander McQueen clutch and fabulous shoes ready for adventures with Mr Big & the girls.

For the shoot, I tried to put together as many different looks to stay in the theme of the H&M Studio SS16 collection, from fabulous evening to casual day time looks, mixing and matching all the pieces together and with other items in my closet. Below are all the photos, do you love the collection as much as me? You can check it out at www.H&M.com, or in stores.
