Rodarte + & Other Stories = Collab Fabulousness...

How did I not know this? Today via Instagram I found out about the super collab between high fashion brand Rodarte and Street Style highstreet fave & Other Stories. & Other Stories is a womens fashion brand offering a wide range of shoes, bags, accessories, beauty and ready-to-wear to create a ‘personal style, or story’. They have creative ateliers in Paris and Stockholm designing diversified fashion collections with great attention to detail and quality at an affordable price. There aesthetic is chic, a woman who knows what she likes, simple lines and precision tailoring.

Rodarte is an American luxury label that was founded by Kate and Laura Mulleavy in Los Angeles in 2005. A conceptual and innovative brand, Rodarte is known for its artistic mixture of high couture, modern femininity, and California influences. For their intricately crafted, multi-layered garments and explorations into other art forms, Kate and Laura Mulleavy have won numerous awards and accolades, including the CFDA Womens wear Designer of the Year, United States Artists Grant, and Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award for Fashion in 2009; the National Arts Award from Americans for the Arts in 2010; and most recently, the Legend of Fashion Award from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013. When I think Rodarte I think extravagant golds, beautiful long flowing dresses and princess style ethereal beauty.

Both are big brands, yet I still haven’t seen much in the media of this collaboration that launches March 17th. (Unlike H&M’s huge build up for designer collaborations!) A quick Google and I found all the details on the Vogue.com website with photos of the whole collection, I did visit the &OtherStories and Rodarte site but not a single mention of the collab was found. Below are my favourite pieces from the collection, and I must admit, I am a little excited!

According to Vogue.com prices are to be similar to H&M collab prices and will be available online and in stores. Will I be shopping? Absolutely, but without the huge hype that usually goes with these collaborations with other retailers, will it be as successful? My answer is probably yes, and hopefully as there’s no awful hype, we will have more of a chance of bagging some Rodarte realness....
