CONFIRMED! Galliano to return...

It was a sad day when John Galliano was fired from the house of Dior for making racist and anti-Semitic remarks in 2011, however, after years off the catwalk, Page Six is reporting that Galliano is staging a return and it's going to be "bigger and better". Galliano will not be returning to Dior, but sources tell the paper that the designer will launch a couture line for Maison Martin Margiela. Margiela has been without a creative director since 2009 when the house's namesake founder departed the brand, since then a collective group has been at the helm. Galliano has not been seen much since the 2011 incident, but has had a brief stint at Oscar de la Renta in an unnamed role in 2013. Sources also tell Page Six, "He has already hired five or six staff members for his atelier in Paris." Margiela is currently owned by the majority shareholder, Diesel Brands Renzo Rosso. Although Rosso did not comment on the rumours, Galliano's rep tells the paper, "He’s having active and ongoing conversations with a few companies." Personally I thought Galliano was a great designer and I loved his work, with the slight chance he may make a return to Couture, here is a sombre video of his last ever collection he designed for Christian Dior which was released days after the news of his dismissal. The next couture shows are in January, so we may not have to wait long for proof of his return...

...Turns out we didnt have long at all, 14 hours after drafting this post it was CONFIRMED. The news broke on Monday through Womenswear Daily, with an official announcement released soon after. Renzo Rosso, the president of Margiela’s parent company OTB, said: “Margiela is ready for a new charismatic creative soul … John Galliano is one of the greatest, undisputed talents of all time – a unique, exceptional couturier for a Maison that always challenged and innovated the world of fashion."

And it isnt just Couture Galliano is returning to, he will take control of all of Margiela’s lines as Creative Director. His first collection for Margiela will be the artisanal line, shown in Paris during couture week in January. Now that the news is official Margiela will be a hot ticket in January. Only time will tell of his success, but all I can say for now is, YAY HE RETURNS!!!
